Clarification

My conversation at WonderCon with Jon Turteltaub covered the Jericho comic, future Jericho film, Epix and CBS Films.

I had asked Jon Turteltaub if Epix was still interested in Jericho; he responded yes. Shaun o'Mac raised a question regarding the accuracy of this portion of the conversation, so I went to get clarification from the producers.

I have since received clarification that neither Junction nor Jon Turteltaub are in current talks with Epix. They did say that Jon Tuteltaub's statements, regarding the future Jericho film and the comic sales being directly tied as a launching-point for the Jericho film, were accurate.

In retrospect, my conversation with him was at the end of a long day and it appears that he misunderstood my question regarding Epix. I would characterize my conversation with Jon Turteltaub as positive and hopeful. I want to thank Shaun o'Mac for his comments and letting us know that we needed to get the statements from Jon Turteltaub clarified.

Lee has secured the unbelievable low rate of $89 per night (Thursday - Sunday). This is a FANTASTIC rate as this hotel sometimes charges upwards of $299 per night

The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle from to and from the airport as well as to downtown Boston. In addition, it is a short walk to the subway and just down the street from the JFK library for all you history buffs. The hotel is 2.5 miles from Downtown Boston and is located on the ocean.

The weekend will include but is not limited to the following:

  • Redsox -- Phillies game at Historic Fenway Park
  • Duck Tour which travels across the City, including a cruise on the Charles River
  • Historic Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall
  • Shopping and Dining
  • Freedom Trail
  • Walking Tour in the Public Gardens, including a ride on the Swan Boats (made famous in Book Make Way for Ducklings)
  • Visit to the USS Constitution, the oldest active commissioned warship in the US Navy
  • Visits to The North End (Little Italy) and China Town

Airfares are still looking GREAT from the east coast and quite affordable from other areas too. It's going to be another EPIC event we hope many Rangers (from EVERYWHERE) can attend.

We had a great turn out in Baltimore last year and are hoping for even more this year. For further details you can e mail me at gumbyfan79@aol.com.

WonderCon Recap

The rangers spoke with about 334 fans.
Saturday we broke all daily records and talked to 197 fans! At times there were three of us all talking to three different fans.

We gave out:

  • 227, 1 inch Jericho Season 3 buttons
  • Over 200 Jericho business cards with info on how to get the comic on the back
  • Used up all the stock of mini posters, magnets and letter size posters
  • Over 70 postcards to Epix (these did not come out until late Saturday)

Jon Turteltaub was amazed that the fans were coming over to the table and telling us they wanted more Jericho.

Jonathan Steinberg was amazed we talked to more fans than we did at Comic Con!

Here is an article and video clip in which Jon Turteltaub tells the interviewer he intends to seek out the Jericho fan table.

Many thanks to our team of rangers:

Operation Phoenix Update

April 6, 2010

Hello Fellow Rangers,

I wanted to update you on the recent events that transpired at WonderCon which was held in San Francisco this past weekend, April 2-4, 2010. Our team of Rangers were at the event all weekend manning the Jericho Fan Table.

On Saturday, Jon Turtletaub was in town and he was part of a panel that ended around 2:00pm. At 5:30 pm he stopped by the Jericho table and spoke with the Rangers. He was asked about the future of Jericho and specifically about Epix. Jon Turteltaub's response was that Epix was still very interested in Jericho. He went on to say that they (the producers) were also talking to CBS Films about the Jericho movie which means there are two different entities interested in Jericho.
Over the past 2 years, we have tried many approaches including the purchase of a billboard and making a TV commercial. In November 2008, we launched Operation Phoenix the purpose of which was to make a business case statement to the bean-counters at CBS that they need to continue the Jericho story.

Based on the statement from Jon Turteltaub on Saturday, we have achieved that goal through many different avenues from bar graphs and posts on Boards, to letters, ratings on the CW during the re-run last year and to surpassing the numbers they had anticipated in the purchase of the Jericho Comic.

What we need to do now is to write to Epix and ask them to provide us information on how to sign up for Epix.

Example to use:
My name is John Smith, I live in Cheyenne, WY. I have Time Warner Cable. I understand that you are adding Jericho to your programming and as a result I want to subscribe to Epix. How can I add Epix channel to my cable service. You can substitute the name of your cable company or satellite carrier.

If you watch content on your I-Phone, I-Pad, X-box or via the internet, tell them that and ask how you access Epix via these mediums as Epix's concept is a cross media approach looking to get their content across the internet, cable, satellite and on I-tunes.

We need everyone to send an email and a letter or post card to Epix.

EPIX email address: superfan@epixhd.com

Mark Greenberg, President and CEO
Epix, a Viacom Company
1515 Broadway
New York, New York 10036

Epix Website: http://www.epixhd.com/

Also we need to get everyone whose is on Facebook to go to the Epix' Facebook page and post a similar message - I am Sally Smith, live in NY, NY, want to see Jericho on Epix.
Epix Face Book link http://www.facebook.com/EpixHD

We are going to get this done. We just need everyone to help push a little more. It is because of every Jericho fan across the globe that we are here today. The continued purchase of sales of the Comic and helping Epix see the numbers of people who want the show to continue are key to locking this up.

Keep the Faith we are almost home

Redsox1986

Please note that although Epix is a cable/satellite network, their articles have talked of other ways to distribute - iTunes and a Netflix like rental service have been mentioned the most.
