The Jericho Comic Returns

JERICHO Returns!
Friday, Nov 19th, 2010
IDW and CBS Consumer Products to Continue Comic Book Series of TV's Cult Classic

IDW Publishing and CBS Consumer Products are continuing the comic book series based on the cult favorite television show that the fans would not let die - JERICHO! Continuing directly from the finale of CBS's post-apocalyptic drama, IDW will offer the complete JERICHO comic series from the original creative team behind the TV show. Debuting in 2006, CBS's Jericho aired for two seasons, following residents of a fictional, post-apocalyptic town.

"The creators and producers of Jericho are so excited about working with IDW to continue the comic book series," said executive producer of Jericho, Dan Shotz. "Jericho thrives because of the fans that fight for this story on a consistent basis. We have to thank the fans because they are the reason Jericho is here to stay."

Kicking off in February 2011, IDW will release both JERICHO #4 and JERICHO REDUX. The specially priced REDUX edition will collect the first three issues of the series and prep readers for the continuation with issues #4 through #6. IDW's JERICHO comics will stay true to the original series, offering fans the story they have been waiting for.

JERICHO #4 Penned by the show's writers and producers, Dan Shotz, Robert Levine and Jason M. Burns, JERICHO REDUX is the perfect way for fans to start getting more of the series they love.

"We're very excited to be part of this universe," said IDW Chief Operating Officer, Greg Goldstein. "Jericho is a powerful story with a very active fan base, and we're happy to be able to continue this adventure with them."

The saga continues in February with JERICHO #4, and the series continues monthly in March and April. Beginning with issue #4, the series will be written by Matthew Federman, with artist Matt Merhoff, and Scott West, who will provide covers.

Based on the unique history of the JERICHO comics, IDW and CBS Consumer Products will work diligently to make sure that subscriptions to the original series are fulfilled.

JERICHO REDUX ($7.99, 72 pages, full color) will be available in stores in February 2011. Diamond order code DEC10 0373.

JERICHO #4 ($3.99, 32 pages, full color) will be available in stores in February 2011. Diamond order code DEC10 0371.

A Message from Dan Shotz to the Fans of Jericho

From Dan Shotz, Executive Producer of Jericho:

I am happy to share some great news! We have found a new home for the Jericho Comic Book Series. CBS Consumer Products, who is responsible for licensing Jericho, is very close to completing a new deal to continue publication of the Comic Book Series. We are very excited about these upcoming plans. Details to follow soon.

Dan Shotz called me this morning (10/15) to let me know the above official statement would be released. He let me know that the new publisher and CBS Consumer Products were in talks at the New York Comic Con and that an official press release would be out soon.

I got the feeling that the new publisher is more established publisher and Dan told me the fans would be pleased with the choice.

Issue #4 is ready to go as soon as the new publisher can get it listed in Diamond's catalog. Issue #5 is getting the finishing touches and issue #6 is being worked on. The new publisher will be republishing issues 1-3 as a booklet, so that their established audience can purchase the first three issues.

The Jericho comic is alive!

Operation Phoenix/Comic Book Update

July 16, 2010

Hello Fellow Rangers

I just wanted to give you a brief update. We have heard from Sam at DDP and they will have issues 1 -- 3 sets for sale for $10.00. In addition, they will have preview pages for issues # 4 as well as Cover A for Issue 4 on display at their booth.

CBS and DDP both have booths at Comic Con and we hope we will hear something, at long last, about the official release date for the final 3 issues of the comic and the book. Hopefully we will also get an update, from CBS or Junction, regarding news on a potential movie.

We continue to believe that we may get news and there will be a full team of Rangers representing the fans of Jericho at Comic Con in San Diego which begins on July 21.

Remember there is a Jericho Rally on July 20, 2010 on SYFY the day before Comic Con and they are showing the pilot through Rogue River.

Operation Phoenix/Comic Book Update

July 2, 2010

Hello Fellow Rangers

We have 19 days until Comic Con begins in San Diego. Ratkeeper tried to get Sam at DDP to confirm the release dates for issues #4 - #6. Prior to Wonder Con Sam, Josh and Junction Entertainment had been very engaged and answered our questions directly. After Wonder Con, we were told that the delay, of the comic, was not due to DDP and that CBS would have a press release. Rat keeper got this response from Sam this week:

From Sam Wells

Subject: Re: Question on Comic forum

i've got nothing as for a release date - i know josh sent out that email that addressed everything ddp and included a section about jericho - if you didn't see that please let me know and i'll forward it to you.

JERICHO: SEASON 3 UPDATE from Josh June 9, 2010

We must offer a huge apology to all of the Jericho fans who are still waiting on issue #4 of the series to hit the stands. The book is still delayed, and as much as it kills us that's all we can say right now.

We can say that issue 4 is drawn, colored, etc. and issue 5 is well in progress, and the whole series has been written, and unless the Mayans were off by a couple of years the book WILL be out soon.

Again, we're sorry that's all we can say at this time. For now, if you haven't checked out the series yet (6 issues in total), you can read them via iTunes or the new comiXology desktop reader, or buy hard copies online and at your local comic shop.

I know yesterday Epix HD posted a simple 2 sentence statement on their facebook page:
"FlashForward and Jericho fans, sadly we will not be picking up either of these shows. We hope they find a good home -- they deserve it."

Think about this, why did they throw Jericho in with Flash forward. We have been contacting them for 2 years and as recently as April 2010 immediately following Jon Turtletaub's statements at Wonder Con we started to take over the Epix Facebook Page and never received any official statements other than they would like to see Jericho on Epix. Why now, all of the sudden and out of the blue did they lump Jericho in with Flash Forward? As we all remember there were several Jericho references including James Remar as Jericho's General.

Finally ask this question, why has the comic been delayed so long? If it followed the original schedule for issues # 1 -- 3 it should have come out on April 28th. Josh states that issue #4 is done as of June 9th, again why won't they simply tell us the new release date? We believe the comic is somehow tied to the next phase of Jericho. We may find out in 19 days so keep the fires burning.

As we have said since March 2009, when the Comic was announced, good sales numbers are key to the movie and continuation of the series.

Everything points to something coming our way, we need stay the course a little longer.

Keep the Faith,

Redsox19861

Operation Phoenix Update

June 25, 2010

Hello Fellow Rangers,

Comic Con is slated to start on July 21, 2010 in San Diego. We feel that some type of announcement may be made at Comic Con and that the delay in the comic is directly related to that announcement.

Right after Wondercon, Sam at DDP let us know that there was a delay with the comic that was related to something at CBS and that there would be a pres release. We have been waiting for a press release since April.

Ratkeeper found this link during a google search: http://www.thewrap.com/movies/article/cbs-films-what-me-worry-18170

There was this statement in the article: "An official with knowledge of the division's development slate said CBS Films will have a number of upcoming development, casting and release announcements to make in the coming weeks."

Is this the CBS press release that DDP said we are waiting for?

After weeks of sending emails to DDP and the producers with no response, a link showed up on the Save Jericho Facebook Page from tfaw, which contained dates for the release of issues 4 -- 6:
http://www.tfaw.com/Search?_results_use_stopwords=true&quick_sstring=jericho&_results_sstype_search=

Issue #4: July 7th
Issue #5: July 28th
Issue #6 August 25th

On June 9, 2010, DDP sent out their newsletter with a statement regarding the delay which included the following:

JERICHO: SEASON 3 UPDATE

All of these clues taken together seem to support that we will get some type of news in 4 weeks at Comic Con.

Stay the Course and Keep the Faith,

Redsox 1986

Operation Phoenix Update

May 21, 2010

Hello Fellow Rangers

I just wanted to check in and address some of the rumors and talk surrounding the comic and the future of Jericho. We have all been wondering, since DDP pulled issue #4 from release, what is going on. There has been speculation ranging from DDP going out of business to the comic has been canceled by CBS and everything in between.

Right now what we do know is that the comic was set for 6 issues with the first 3 being released 7 weeks apart. Issue 4 should have been released on Wednesday, April 28, 2010. We have been told by Sam, at DDP, that there is a CBS press release due out to explain the production delay. We have been told by Dan Shotz that the comic has been extended and that they have told us sales have been better than they could have hoped for.

Over the past 6 weeks, there have been numerous Jericho articles and related stories popping up on the internet and in Flash Forward on ABC and in 24 on Fox. There have been Jericho related storylines, names and actors all making references to Jericho; with Flash Forward having its own Ravenwood named Jericho, with James Remar as Jericho's General. To some this looks like some type of product placement or part of some type of direct marketing campaign.

Jericho was canceled in March 2007 and we sent nuts, faxes, calls and they caved and put the show back on the air. The second time around came with another cancellation in March 2008 and since that time we have collectively, through many means have kept Jericho alive.

CBS is a billion dollar business that makes it's money off of advertising, such as billboards and sport venues, as well as through television, licensing and film. It green lighted the comic because of everyone out there watching Jericho DVD's or on Netflix, attending Comic Con and Wondercon, as well as all the past campaigns and the ratings on the CW last year.

Comic Con is scheduled for July 22-25, in San Diego. Ratkeeper and I feel that based on the information and clues that we have seen, something will be announced at Comic Con. We have come a long way in 2 years and we still hold out hope today for more Jericho, because all of us through many different ways stood as one and did not let Jericho die.

We are still here and still have a chance. Let's see what the press release says and what happens at Comic Con in July.

Keep the Faith

Operation Phoenix/Comic Book Update

April 11, 2010

Hello Fellow Rangers

By now many have seen the update from Ratkeeper regarding Jon Turtletaub's remarks from Wondercon. The producers answered several questions from Ratkeeper regarding Epix and a possible movie. Although they said there were no direct talks going on right now with Epix, they did say that Jon Tuteltaub's statements, regarding the future Jericho film and the comic sales being directly tied as a launching-point for the Jericho film, were accurate.

That being said, we still believe that Epix may be in the mix down the road. Putting the show on Epix to run the 29 original episodes and then making and putting on TV, a one or two part movie would seem to be the most logical step if Jericho is to return other than a Comic Book. The cost of production will be lower and the risk would be minimal as CBS already owns the series and the cost would be far less than a movie made for release on the big screen.

What we need to do now is to write one email and one post on Facebook, to Epix, asking them to provide us information on how to sign up for Epix.

Example to use:
My name is John Smith, I live in Jericho, KS. I have Time Warner Cable. I understand that you might be adding Jericho to your programming and as a result I want to subscribe to Epix. How can I add Epix channel to my cable service. You can substitute the name of your cable company or satellite carrier.

If you watch content on your I-Phone, I-Pad, X-box or via the internet, tell them that and ask how you access Epix via these mediums; as Epix's concept is a cross media approach looking to get their content across the internet, cable, satellite and on I-tunes.

We need everyone to send an email and a letter or post card to Epix:

EPIX email address: superfan@epixhd.com
Mark Greenberg, President and CEO
Epix
1515 Broadway
New York, New York 10036
epix website: Link

Also we need to get everyone whose is on Facebook to get onto Epix' Facebook page and post a similar message I am Sally Smith, live in NY, NY, want to see Jericho on Epix.
epix Face Book: Link

Ask your carrier, if they will be getting Epix. Contact information for Comcast, Time Warner and Direct TV

ecare@comcast.com
We_Can_Help@cable.comcast.com Comcast Customer Service
215-640-8960 Comcast Customer Service

twc.cotp@twcable.com Time Warner Customer Service

http://support.directv.com/app/ ask Direct TV customer Service Form
800-824-9081 Direct TV customer service number

As we look towards the future we can help deliver numbers that they need to make a business case argument to continue Jericho. In our world, we can do that by buying the comic, including telling friends and family where to buy the comic, spread the word through word-of-mouth and social media and by letting CBS and Epix know we are here and will be willing customers. They will have someone watching and counting so if you can do one email and one Facebook post, that is all we need, no money or real time involved.

A special Thank you to Ranger M in Scottsdale, Arizona for understanding and coming up with a new line in the message that we are sending to Epix. " I understand that you MIGHT BE adding Jericho to your programming and as a result I want to subscribe to Epix. "

Think of it as completing the Census form only easier.
