East Coast Ranger Gathering

Baltimore, MD, September 18-20, 2009

Thanks to Lee, John and BeeBull they have secured the Hotel for the East Coast Ranger Gathering in Baltimore, MD which will be held September 18-20, 2009. Lee spoke with the sales department today requesting a block of 10-15 rooms with a rate of $89-99.

Hilton Garden Inn Baltimore/Arundel Mills
7491-A New Ridge Road
Hanover, Maryland, 21076
Tel: 1-410-878-7200

Arundel Mills is all new area and has largest mall in Md. Nice area; also BWI hotels and very close to BWI and Baltimore. We are also looking to go to visit Ft. McHenry, where the Star Spangled Banner was penned, the Baltimore Inner Harbor and on Saturday Night we are planning to attend the Baltimore Orioles vs. the Boston Redsox game at Camden yards.

We need people to post to this thread as I will be ordering the game tickets in advance. Baltimore is like Fenway Park South, Redsox Fans swarm to Camden Yards to watch the games so the tickets will go fast.

This promises to be a great time. So who is In? You can join the discussion and post how many game tickets you will need in either of these two places:

Jericho Graphic Novel/Comic Update

From Redsox1986 at UHD:

June 26, 2009

Ratkeeper received a response to our questions from Devils Due Publishing:
  • The Jericho comic will be out monthly, starting in October.
  • How does DDP want us to do to help them promote the Jericho comic? Message boards! And by that I mean visiting the comic sites such as Newsarama and Comic Book Resources and be vocal on their boards. You can also get a friend into the book, shoot for people that aren't even into comics. It's a wonderful thing when new people get into comics because of a title like this.
  • What kind of promotional activities do they have planned and will they be attending any conventions to promote the Jericho comic? We're doing San Diego as you know and Wizard World Chicago this year. We'd be open to any suggestions.

We need to get Rangers to Chicago (Aug 6-9) and San Diego (July 23-26) [ San Diego Con is sold out, so you must already have a ticket to go] and to any other Regional comic book conventions we can get to.

Also we are looking for Rangers to get to the following conventions:

  • Charlotte July 12
  • Toronto 8/28-8/30
  • Philadelphia September 13
  • New York 10/16-10/18

Check out a local convention near you.

I am putting out a call to all Rangers, please contact Ratkeeper (see top of message for e-mail) or me if you can make Chicago.

Ratkeeper is working on putting together business cards and building a fan neutral website, with the goal of handing the cards out at conventions to reach new and old Jericho fans who are not online.

Operation Comic Book Is Now Underway

From Redsox1986 at UHD:

June 23

Devils Due Publishing has announced that the Comic Book will be released in October. We had a brainstorming chat this past Saturday night to try and come up with a plan to help drive sales of the comic book to a level whereby the Executives at Paramount green-light the movie. The logical question is what can we do to increase sales and help DDP and CBS Television market the comic book. We are going to attack this on several levels. We will be looking to do bulk purchases for the troops, bulk purchases for schools, bulk purchases by individual groups and getting other fans groups such as the Brown Shirts from Firefly to help us out. K6 has suggested doing another auction similar to the one we did for the TV adds on Time Warner and UHD last year.

We are also concentrating on continuing to build the Jericho Fanbase at the grass roots level by word of mouth, continuing to stay active on the UHD, Sci Fi, IMDB and WIKI Boards, at JKI and RFJ Boards, and by getting Rangers to go to the major comic book conventions in the US in the next 3 to 5 months.

I am working on finalizing the plan with a group of Rangers to make sure it is organized and then we will post it to all the forums in the Fandom.

Comic Con International is the main event which is scheduled for July 24-26 in San Diego, CA. It has been announced that there will be a Jericho panel at Comic Con; we think this is significant and may signal that the movie and comic book are tied together.

The East Coast Ranger gathering will happen this Fall, September 18-20, 2009 in Baltimore, MD. I have asked Lee, Bee Bull and Sandbagger from the WIKI to co-ordinate the event.

Why am I asking everyone to stay the course and to continue to work together, because over the past month or so, we have been seeing bits and pieces of information that put together look like they are related and all point to the comic book being the precursor to the announcement about the movie.

The recent ARG game that caused a lot of sensation in the UK and throughout the globe has brought a lot of publicity to Jericho. Even though it looks like it was done by a private group it has been great publicity for Jericho a month prior to the big announcement coming at Comic Con.

As I mentioned back in November 2008 when we started down the road with Operation Phoenix, this battle was going to be won only if we reached the bean counters (the Executives in finance) who make the final decisions on approving production of films and TV shows at CBS Television and Paramount.

We set goals of garnering 2 million viewers on the CW by June 14 and we got 1,900,000 on June 14, 2009 with Patriots & Tyrants. We set goals of 1,500,000 views of Season 1 on You Tube including 100,000 views of the pilot and we hit 1,200,000 and 105,000 views accordingly.
Now we need to deliver comic book sales and we will do that if we work together. There are still large sub groups within the Jericho Fandom including over 10,000 on Facebook. We need to harness the energy of every Ranger and ever group and collectively we can drive the sales and get final approval for the movie.

Keep the Faith

Chat with Shoshannah Stern (JEBS 6/20/09)

From Ka4ist at RFJ:

RadioFreeJericho is pleased to announce a special chat event June 23, 9pm E/6pm P.

Continuing in the fine tradition of unparalleled fan interaction from the Cast/crew of Jericho , Shoshannah Stern has graciously agreed to join us in a live chat to answer fan questions and to talk about her latest project "Adventures of Power".

ADVENTURES OF POWER is an epic comedy about a mine-worker named Power whose love of drums and lack of musical skill has turned him into the ridiculed "air drummer" of his small town. But when Power's union-leader father calls a strike at the mine, Power discovers an underground subculture of air-drummers who just might hold the key to changing the world. Power's journey across America brings him face-to-face with his town's greatest enemy, and allows him to discover the beat within his own heart. Written by Ari Gold

As with all RFJ chats featuring a special guest or guests, this chat will be moderated and registration is required to participate.

Special thanks to Mainemom22 for her efforts in organizing this event!

Operation Phoenix Update (JEBS 6/20/09)

June 17, 2009

Hello Fellow Rangers:
The final Nielsen ratings for Sunday, June 14, 2009 was 1,900,000 (Congratulations Rangers!). We had set a goal to hit 2 million by June 14, 2009 and we just missed it. We have over 1,200,000 views on Youtube and we are now heading towards 36,000 posts on the UHD Board.

With Jericho's final airing on the CW behind us, we are looking to what is on the horizon for the next few months. Out front and Center is the Jericho Comic Book which is due to be launched in October 2009. Ratkeeper recently received responses from Devils Due that they are currently working on a date certain and will let us know. We will be working to lay out a promotion plan and will get it posted throughout the Fandom in the near future.

Breaking News from N2N2-Pat thanks for letting us know about this:
I Tweet Karim asking for news. His response:

Some exciting news to deliver regarding "jericho" comic book, but i can't deliver it yet. I know, I know...but it'll be good.

Another important development is that of an ARG that is playing out on Youtube with a UK tie in. Ratkeeper and I feel this most likely is tied to the movie by developing a larger global fan base via the ARG to prep for the release of the movie.

The five parts of the Operation Blackjack can be seen here:

(Editor's note: It has been revealed over the weekend that this ARG has no connections with Jericho and has been suspended by the creator.)

We will also planning an East Coast Ranger gathering in Baltimore the weekend of September 18th. (BeeBull says weather will be better) More on that to be announced.

Information on the Jericho Graphic Novel/Comic

Submitted by Ratkeeper at JKI:

From Sam Wells of Devil's Due Publishing:

1. What is the actual release date?
October, and narrowing it down to which week is not possible at this time.

2. What is the price of the issue?
The issue will be $3.99 for covers A & B (cover B is a photo cover) and there will be an exclusive cover C that will be a "Previews Exclusive" that will have a $10 price point.

3. How many issues are planned?
Tentatively four issues to start, which could go into more if the demand (Iknow, I know :)) is there.

4. Which retailers will be selling them?
Most comic shops in the US will most likely carry them. Once the issue of Previews is out that they're able to place orders you can ask your local comicshop to order and hold you a copy. We'll also have them for sale on ourwebstore.

5. How can I preorder?
Currently there's no pre-order available, but we might be doing a subscription service where people can buy all four issues of the series at once through ourwebstore. More info to follow soon!

JerichoNet to Close

In the past few months, it has become blatently obvious that this board has slowed down. Interest is waning, and people are moving on to other things. It is this observation that has brought me to the concept that this dream needs to come to an end, and it is only fair to those who are dedicated and have remained around to let you know that as of August 8th, this site will cease to exist. I will allow the board's license and the site's home to expire. - DarkCrystal

You can read the rest of the announcement at JerichoNet.
