Place Your Pre-Orders for the Jericho Comic

As our DDP contact, Beebull, Ichthus and Denny have said the pre-orders will have a huge affect on sales, so please contact you local comic shop and pre-order ASAP

http://www.comicshoplocator.com/

If pre-ordering now is a hardship, then there are other ways to get the first issue. Each store will order some of the comics to stock their shelves. (The pre-orders determine how many they will buy for stock.) There are some companies that will do mail orders. These are all first come first serve options.

Will there be enough issues for everyone? NO! Comics don't get restocked like books or DVDs. If you want to buy an issue at a reasonable price, then your best bet is to pre-order ASAP!
When the issue sells out, then you will see copies sold on E-Bay and Amazon stores and you will have to pay a premium price to get an issue.

Everyone who can please pre-order now, so that very few Jericho fans will have to pay those premium prices!!!

Operation Comic Book Update - DDP/CBS Liaison

August 21, 2009

Hello Fellow Rangers:

These are Exciting times. I had the chance to speak with the DDP/CBS Liaison yesterday at length and they are committed to working with us. Why do I continue to think things are still moving forward? The main reason is if DDP and CBS are willing to put money into the Liaison and an advertising budget, then the movie and potentially something better is still very much in play. CBS or any other Network is not going to spend money on a twice canceled dead show, especially in this economy, unless there is some type of return for them.

First, I want to Thank Ichthus and Denny Wilson for their really well written Comic Book marketing email which is being sent to email addresses and social groups across the Jericho Fandom. I shared this with the contact from DDP/CBS and they were quit literally blown away. They were so impressed with how it was written and its'content. This is a quote from our contact: "The note about how it's key to get the single issues before the trade is spot on, as the initial sales of the single issues will really dictate how the series will continue." Brian and Denny on behalf of all the Rangers Thank You!

Second, I want to thank Schumi for all her work and contribution on Twitter and her continued efforts to help promote the comic book. Not only does she bring her experience as one of the leaders from the First Nuts Campaign and why we got a season 2, but she has also brought her technical expertise on Twitter and is willing to try and help people. We all appreciate Schumi's contribution to the Campaign.

With regard to our contact I had the chance to discuss the following:

DDP website: I asked the contact to look at the website because several rangers have encountered problems with a virus. They are working on this issue now and believe it may be caused by hackers from Eastern Europe.

Release Date: I asked our contact to get us a firm release date. He stated that he will get that date as we get closer to October.

Comic Books for the Troops: I have asked for help from Devils Due on getting reduced cost issues and to work with the Rangers at JR4OT on this program.

Advertising: I discussed our plan to create a Jericho Fan Brand with regard to posters, cards etc. He liked the idea of working together and having consistent items that will help market the comic book.

Our own K6, has done terrific work on some of the comic covers. He has created a comment card. The card will be able to be down loaded and sent back by regular mail or by email to DDP and CBS. The purpose is to provide feedback on the comic, provide demographic information for CBS (think movie) and store location and demographics for DDP. Thanks to Ichthus for this idea!

We will be putting together a similar 8 ½ by 11 poster and a post card size version of the same art work. All will be branded with a symbol we come up with. We will then load the advertising on a website we found that you can download and print.

Bee Bull has done a lot of leg work and leaving post card sized advertising at the local comic shops is the most effective way to promote it with comic book people. In addition to leaving these around we are looking for people to download the posters and post them at Community Bulletin Boards that are located in supermarkets, book stores and libraries as part of the comic book campaign.

Other thoughts: I suggested that he ask CBS to put some advertising in the USA Today as this is a newspaper many people read and the Sunday section is part of numerous major newspapers around the country.

I am looking for addition ideas and comments please respond to redsox19861@yahoo.com or on the Operation Comic Book Thread on the UHD Board

Comic Con/Sci Fi Cons:

Our contact is going to try and get us free fan tables and I asked for him to prioritize the following comic cons:

East Coast & Mid America Cons:

Raleigh, NC-August 30, 2009
Philadelphia, PA-September 13, 2009

Baltimore, MD-October 10-11, 2009
New York, NY-October 16-18, 2009
Boston, MA-October 24-25, 2009
Toronto, OT--November 22, 2009
Orlando, FL March 12-14, 2010
Overland Park, KS March 27-28, 2010

Western Cons: Already have fan tables and we need rangers to volunteer to help (name of person running the table):
October 2-4, Silicon, San Jose, CA (Ratkeeper)

Information On Ordering Jericho Comic Book

Dear Jericho Rangers,

In October, Devil's Due Publishing will release the first of six issues of Jericho: Season 3 - Civil War. This is a continuation of the story that begun in Jericho and will pick up from the end of season 2. The success of this comic book will help move the Jericho movie further down the development pipeline. We realize that for some fans purchasing comic books may be something new or something you haven't done in years. We are sending out this email to provide you the information you need to purchase the new comic book.

You can purchase the comic at your local comic shop. You can locate your local comic shop at www.comicshoplocator.com . Some shops will even let you pre-order, or hold aside the comics for you.

If you don't have a local comic shop in your area, one of the best on-line mail order services is www.mycomicshop.com . It is run by Lone Star Comics, the largest comic retailer in Texas. While they don't have pre-order available, it will be available for order in the new releases section (www.mycomicshop.com/newreleases) the week of each month the comic is published. This is also good option if you want to buy multiples of each issue - they do offer free shipping for order of $50 or more! They will also be stocking the comics as "back issues".

While DDP is planning on putting out a graphic novel of these first six issues in early 2010, it is important that we support the individual comic issues as the sales figures for these are what CBS Consumer Products (the licensing arm of CBS Television Studios) and DDP will be looking at. The Sales figures are also important for the graphic novel, but the ongoing individual comic issues are what count the most! So, October to February, we need to buy and support each issue.

Also, Jericho Rangers for Our Troops (JR4OT) is providing Comic Relief for Our Troops. This is an opportunity for you to provide the comic book through donations to our troops overseas. Please visit www.comicsfortroops.com for details.

For those who might be interested in learning more about comics and a have a chance to meet up will other Jericho Rangers, we suggest you visit your local comic book convention. You can find conventions in your area by visiting http://www.conventionscene.com/schedules/comicbookconventions/

Please help support our effort to continue the Jericho story by making Jericho: Season 3 - Civil War a success.

Thank You,
Your Fellow Jericho Rangers

Operation Comic Book

August 14, 2009

Hello Fellow Rangers,

Hope you are all enjoying the summer. Before you know it summer will be gone and Fall will arrive. The Jericho Comic Book titled Season 3 will release 6 comic books in the series starting in late October.

I just wanted to provide an update for the Fandom. I was watching the movie Gandhi last weekend. It starts with Gandhi arriving back to India in 1915 and we follow him and the struggle for 32 years until the British walked out of India in 1947 as Gandhi had predicted to the Royal Governor some 25 years prior to 1947.

Why I mention Gandhi is it had several parallels to our fight for Jericho. First and foremost is that similar to the India's fight against the British Empire we have been battling for a long time against a very powerful foe, CBS Television. The Indians won because they stayed the course and hurt the British where it counted most, in the pocket book. Losing access to 300 million customers for everything from clothing to tea to home goods, drained the British economy and eventually the decision to leave was their only option.

We are going to do the same thing in reverse. We already know via the producers' statements at Comic Con, in San Diego, on July 24th that they were very pleased with the ratings on the CW for the 29 episode rerun. Now we need to deliver sales of the comic beyond that magic number they need to justify green-lighting the movie. We want to drive sales, add new rangers and deliver cards and letters to CBS and DDP come October leaving no doubt that there is still plenty of money to be made continuing the Jericho story.

Ratkeeper was at comic con and she says that the producers and the person form CBS were extremely happy with the turnout. In addition, please note that the comic book has been titled Season 3 which leads to the logical assumption that there may be a Season 4, we do not know if it will be a movie or maybe more.

To that end we will get the movie and possibly another season of Jericho on television only if we deliver sales of the comic series that meet or exceed the sales goals set forth by the bean counters and executives at CBS. We have a real shot and we want to maximize our chances by being as proactive as possible.

Operation Comic Book-on UHD Board: Link
The main way to deliver sales and to build interest is to purchase and/or pre-order the comic book form your local comic book store. You can locate your local comic shop at www.comicshoplocator.com.

This is important because it helps us continue to build the Jericho grass roots efforts and also drives DDP and CBS to make and distribute more issues if they see demand coming from comic shops all over the US and Canada.

Another way to help is to work with Jericho Rangers for Our Troops (JR4OT) and Jericho 4 Kids is once again working to promote Jericho and help our troops over seas. For those who want to contribute to that effort please visit www.comicsfortroops.com.

You can also go to www.savingjericho.com which is the new informational website designed to help new fans and old to locate the various fan communities and to what they can do to promote Jericho and help with the comic book.

Building the Jericho fanbase from the ground up starts at places like UHD Baord, IDMB, JKI, Jericho Rally Point and Radio Free Jericho. Maybei and the Folks at www.radiofreejericho.com have been promoting Jericho for almost 3 years with things like podcasts, interviews and having a very active fan group that have continued to stay together some 16 months after the 2nd temporary cancellation. Finding ways to keep people interested without spending a lot of money is a key element to continuing to build our fanbase.

Soon we will be sending out a blast email to Rangers via email, Facebook, on Twitter and through other social networks all letting them know about Operation Comic Book and how they can help. Thanks to Denny Wilson and Ichthus.

Advertising: Beebull has been very proactive and has had several discussions with local shop owners in Baltimore. They state that making postcard size advertising and leaving them around the shops to be picked up is the best approach and we are working on securing a site where people can go and down load Jericho Comic book postcard art work to leave at their local shops.
For those who might be interested in helping out at local conventions please check out www.conventionscene.com/schedules/comicbookconventions/. We are looking to secure Fan tables at various comic cons and scifi conventions and once we do, we will be looking for volunteers to work the tables.

We have all traveled a long road together, and whatever we can do over the next couple months will collectively bring us over the finish line. Everyone has a part to play great or small, we need your talents, energy and spirit. Together we will make History Again!

Stay the Course and Keep the Faith

Jericho Fans Ask For Your Help In Sending Some "Comic Relief" To Our Troops!

In October 2009, DDP Publishing will release the anxiously awaited "Jericho Season 3" Comic Book.

The "Comics For Troops" project site has been created to allow fans, and anyone wishing to send some love to our brave deployed men and women, the ability to pool their donations in order to send off copies of the comic to them. It is with our hope that by providing them with this bit of entertainment it brightens their time just a little while they serve our country overseas.

As the comic has a planned release date of October 2009, all donations made through that date will be pooled together and held in the JR4OT, Inc. paypal account and used to purchase the Jericho Comic Book in bulk on its release. The purchase will be made from a source that offers the best per issue price and from one that is measurable so the volume purchase will be noticed most.

Comic Books will be shipped direct to Staten Island Project Homefront in Staten Island, NY and will be included in care packages sent to the men and women deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Depending on the release date, our goal is to coincide with SIPH's packing date of October 20th and shipping date of October 29th. With a normal shipping time, the troops will have these in their hands by the first week of November.

Donations can be made in any amount by clicking the DONATE NOW button on the home page. Please contribute only what you can, include a note to accompany a Comic even if you can't contribute. Its the knowing that these men and women are in our thoughts that touch them deepest. Notes can be submitted through the "contact us" page of this site. As donations begin to come in a "total raised" section will be included on this site for you to follow.

If this effort helps our men and women serving let their minds leave where they are for even a short time, then we can all know we did a little something to improve their day and thank them for their sacrifices.

Operation Comic Book

August 2, 2009

Hello Fellow Rangers:

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer. We will be launching Operation Comic Book on August 3, 2009.

I know I have said this in the past, but we have a real chance hear to get the movie made and possibly a third season if we can deliver sales of the comic book. Gwen aka Ratkeeper and her team (Gkkatz, Windrebel, Franfan1 and Hollyhobbits) did a unbelievable job at Comic con in San Diego last week. Dan and Karim were very pleased and if things were stuck in neutral before Comic Con; they are moving forward at full speed now.

The Jericho panel had 5 writers/producers and Lennie James and had over 300 people attend. The Jericho Fan Table was the site of a lot of visitors, several taking pictures of the booth including the lady from CBS who accompanied the Junction team to Comic Con. Our fan efforts impressed everyone. We now have a contact at DDP who will be coordinating with us. This is a major step forward and why we stand here today with a real chance to win this thing.

Operation Comic Book:

Purchase the Jericho Comic Book:
  1. We are asking people to purchase comic books from their local comic book stores. Just call up your local shop and ask them to pre-order the Jericho comic. They will take down your information and call you once it comes in. Once the comic book is out K6 is designing a comment card which you can download and send back to Devils Due, it will provide the name and location of the comic store and some information about you and what you thought.
Comic book store locator by city/town: Link
Comic book Store locator by state: Link
  2. Comic Book for the Troops, Mike's Mom, Scoobud, Kay T and kids will be working on the Comic Book for the Troops campaign where people can purchase comic books in bulk to send to the troops via Operation Homefront, which is similar to the DVD for the Troops Program from 2 years ago.

Promote the Jericho comic book:

We are looking for ways to promote the comic book without asking Rangers to spend a lot of money. The economy is very bad and people have real world issues they are dealing with and so we are looking for ways to get the word out at little or no cost.

  1. We will be putting together a release which will be sent out via email in a blast over multiple forums several times in, once in mid September and again in early October just prior to the release date. The email will have all pertinent information regarding the comic book and how to purchase the books and also where to download the comment cards.
  2. New information website: www.savingjericho.com This website, which was on the business cards handed out at Comic Con, has links to the Jericho Community and is intended as an central information portal for new and old Rangers. We will be placing this site on the business cards handed out at future conventions and on flyers.
  3. Local Comic Cons we need rangers to volunteer, we already have several for Chicago, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Atlanta.
List of Comic Book Cons and Shows: Link
Either you can look to get a fan table like Gwen did or you can attend and give out business cards and flyers (with website info and comic release info on them). Please contact Ratkeeper or Redsox via the UHD Board or e-mail. Facebook rangers can contact Dawn on her facebook group: Link
We will be asking Rangers to help design post cards and flyers that can be downloaded from the website. We are looking for people to start posting the flyers in comic book stores, community boards in libraries, at universities and at local grocery stores.
  4. We will be promoting the comic book on Face Book, Myspace and Twitter and have several people who will be working to update those sites prior to and after the release of the comic book.
  5. For those who can afford to purchase more than one copy we are looking to see if you can leave copies at the local comic book store, local library or your doctors/dentist office, anywhere people congregate and tend to read.

Stay the Course and we will finally get the movie if not more.
